Scandinavian Living Room Remodel with Library – Design & Functionality

Proposed Living Room Remodel Style: Scandinavian with pine wood elements Key Changes: Addition of a full-wall bookshelf library Incorporation of a reading nook Use of light pine wood for shelving and coffee table Neutral color palette (whites, grays, light wood) Budget: Over $25,000

The proposed remodel transforms the existing living room (approximately 15ft x 20ft) into a Scandinavian-inspired haven with a focus on functionality and aesthetics. The most significant change is the addition of a custom-built bookshelf library spanning the entire 15ft length of one wall. This library, crafted from light pine wood, provides ample storage for books and decorative items, creating a focal point for the room. A comfortable reading nook is integrated into the design, featuring a cozy armchair and a stylish floor lamp. The existing sofa (assumed to be around 8ft long) is retained, but complemented by a new light-colored wool rug (9ft x 12ft) to define the seating area. A minimalist coffee table (4ft x 2ft), also made from pine wood, is placed in front of the sofa. The color palette is kept neutral, with whites, grays, and light wood tones dominating the space to enhance the sense of light and airiness, characteristic of Scandinavian design. The lighting is improved with the addition of strategically placed lamps to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. This design aims to create a functional and stylish living space that caters to the client’s desire for a library and a Scandinavian aesthetic.
